Evidence-based Medicine Fundamentals (2-4 hours)
This intermediate-to-advanced workshop introduces participants to the principles and basic steps behind the practice of evidence-based medicine (EBM). The first three EBM steps are covered in depth: crafting the answerable clinical question; searching for relevant evidence; and critically appraising evidence found. This workshop is best offered in a hands-on environment with no more than two participants per computer.
Health Communication Planning With CDCynergy (4 or 7 hours)
Envision Research is part of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) national network of CDCynergy trainers. CDCynergy is a CD-ROM based communications planning tool to help health communicators and health educators design communication-based health interventions. The CDCynergy curriculum includes a template for creating a health communication plan, examples of real public health interventions, a glossary of health communication terminology, and hundreds of resources useful for developing and evaluating health intervention plans. CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) credits are available for this workshop. This workshop must be offered as a hands-on workshop.

Nursing Resources on the Net (1-2 hours)
More hospitals than ever are trying to achieve Magnet status. Many workplaces have developed clinical ladders for practicing nurses. The ability to find and use knowledge-based clinical information has become vitally important for nurses at all levels, including staff and charge nurses, nursing managers, and nurse educators. This overview workshop introduces the best clinical and professional free Web resources for nurses of all specializations. Topics include nursing research and articles; nursing CE; online communities of practice; and more. The workshop can be conducted as a hands-on computer course if facilities allow, or as a demonstration course with a sole Internet connection.
